PRESS STATEMENT 4 OCTOBER 2000
STOP THE ISRAELI KILLING FIELDS
We denounce the massacre of unarmed Palestinian youths in the
compound of Al Aqsa mosque by the blood-thirsty Zionist forces. Such
unrestrained and arrogant use of brute force, by the usurpers of
Palestinian rights, against the stone-throwing protesters reflects the
criminal instincts of the trigger-happy occupation forces. We condemn
the use of helicopter gunships to mow down young protesters to death.
We lament the helplessness of the United Nations, including the unipolar
world's policemen, to protect unarmed civilians protesting against
injustices and marginalisation in their own homeland. The entire world
cannot but simply watch in dilemma as Israel unleashed its killing
machines over the killing fields of Palestinian youths. The Zionist forces
have clearly shown its utter disregard for human rights, including the
rights of Palestinians to statehood.
The civilized world in general, the Muslims in particular, have betrayed the
people of Palestine for not being able to lift a finger in defense of justice
and human rights of Palestinians. The Israeli occupation forces have
repeatedly manifested its brutality and acts devoid of human
compunction.
We urge that Israeli security forces be withdrawn from the sacred
mosque compound, and other Palestinian towns in the West Bank and
Gaza, and to return to the negotiating table with the Palestinian Authority.
Jerusalem should be returned to Palestine as the undivided capital of the
Palestinian state.
We call upon the United Nations to exert efforts to implement resolutions
based on the just settlement of the conflict.
Lasting peace in the Middle East can only be achieved if sovereignty,
justice and human rights are accorded the government and people of
Palestine.
